| Walking is the most basic form of exercise. It helps make the body healthy - conditioning the heart and leg muscles and using calories to control body weight. It is energy building, emotionally rewarding and fun. More creative thinking, reduction of stress and better sleeping habits are by-products of walking.
The Walking Club encourages individual performance, not competition. The children set personal goals and work on ways to achieve these goals. The Walking Club's objectives are to: Motivate children to become fit and gain an appreciation of walking as a lifetime exercise. Help children control their body weight. Provide structure to recess time. Serve as an adjunct to school physical education programs. |
